Capturing the heady jazz rock of Steely Dan and the lush latter-day groove of Van Morrison, Ransom Note is beginning to make its mark on the St. Louis scene, revealing a sometimes smooth, sometimes churning undercurrent to the soul revival. Featuring five veteran musicians -- Merv Schrock (vocals), Jon Parsons (keyboards, vocals) Sherman S. Sherman (bass), Ron Leible (drums, vocals) and Ben Parsons (guitar, vocals) -- the band released its first CD, "It's You!" in 2011, and celebrates with a party at Off Broadway on December 30.
