Now, in addition to having 12 albums to his name in twice as many years, he also has a mature, weathered and gnarled voice and an introspective and poetic tone to his lyrics, both traits that only an experienced and fervent music maker could possess.
The music Buckner makes dances around the genres of alt-country, folk and indie-rock, but includes vast, serene arrangements and a polished sound. His lyrics are plain but powerful, maybe because Buckner has actually taken time off from music to focus on the craft of poetry. This shows on his most recent album, "Surrounded," which features evocative and strikingly simple lyrics that come off as almost effortless.
In this stripped down acoustic set, Buckner's deep, but silky voice, woodsy guitar and poetic lyrics are left to really stand on their own and prove just how powerful simplicity can be.
