Zach Schwartz formed the band in Oakland, Calif. after he lost his job in the dot-com fiasco. He has since proven himself to be a singer-songwriter whose music seems to be perfectly in step with the zeitgeist in movies and television. Rogue Wave's music has been featured in at least four movie soundtracks and a dozen or so television episodes. Microsoft used one of their songs in an ad too.
Zach, who is now known as Zach Rogue, is joined in the studios by band members Patrick Spurgeon on percussion and Dan Lead on guitar -- and the sound is sweet. The band has released five albums since 2005, but the three songs in this live performance are all from the 2013 release, "Nightingale Floors." The band's studio work is more layered and produced, but this intimate setting showcases the gorgeous songwriting and deft and subtle guitar work that is at the heart of the songs.
