Bush didn't come upon stardom, let alone instrumental mastery, quickly. He began playing mandolin at the age of 11 and then attended every bluegrass festival, workshop and fiddler's convention he could find. In 1971, Bush debuted the New Grass Revival, a band that would change the shape of bluegrass, introducing jazz and rock elements that the genre had largely eschewed. As a solo artist, Bush has released 8 albums, including 2009's Circles Around Me, which finds him jamming to a wide range of traditional and original tunes along with friends Jerry Douglas, Edgar Meyer and Byron House, among others. Bush was in town for a show at the Old Rock House on July 8, 2010.
