Scattered Trees, a young, five-piece band hailing from the outskirts of Chicago, delivers easy-to-listen-to indie folk pop on piano, bass, guitar and drums.
The songs from its recently released album, Sympathy, were born out of lead singer Nate Eiesland's mourning for his deceased father. One of the strongest tracks, "Sparrow," features Eiesland’s close and breathy vocals over a stripped-down acoustic setting that weaves the song together.
Eiesland's songs are as delicate as a nervous handshake, and sometimes evoke the soundtrack to a cinematic romance, in which the beautiful guy finally gets the beautiful girl.
