Trying to pigeonhole Shannon McNally’s sound into any one particular music genre is like trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole. The singer-songwriter has touched on an Americana sound that’s altogether country, blues, roots and rock.

Though originally from Long Island, N.Y., Shannon McNally’s smoky drawl and ardent lyrics are made of nothing but true Southern grit. In her latest album "Coldwater," McNally has carved out a sound that is self-proclaimed “American Ghost Music." Her husky crooning lingers easily over the backdrop of steel guitars, organs, and snare drums that keeps time like a train clacking lazily down the track. The album contains five original songs and three covers that were recorded with the band Hot Sauce. McNally last appeared in St. Louis for Twangfest, performing at the Schlafly Tap Room on June 9, 2010.
