The music of Shilpa Ray and her Happy Hookers is nothing short of savage, full of aching, longing howls and rough guitar.

Shilpa and her band, made up of Andrew Bailey on guitar, Nick Hundley on bass and John Adamski on percussion, all snarl and croon in the best of fashions, creating pure, blues-influenced rock full of angst and wit. Shilpa's thick, alto voice alternates between soulful and raging, and her raucous melodies are complemented by the accordion-like sound of her harmonium and the skillful playing of her Happy Hookers.

The band recently put forth a gritty second release in January on Knitting Factory Records, titled Teenage and Torture. Following the album release, the band went on tour, even playing at South by Southwest in March before passing through St. Louis in April.
