Beginning with the 2004 release "Bulletproof Heart" and continuing through a pretty prolific run of live and studio albums, solo and band releases, up to this year's Mark Weinberg-produced Vanguard collection "Gift Horse," Kellogg and band find new ways to revive classic formulas, from Springsteenesque story songs to Westerbergian rockers. The band may hail from Massachusetts, but they've become experts in reckless, lyrical heartland rock 'n' roll.
