Minneapolis residents Joe Mailander and Justin Lansing started out as members of a bluegrass band before venturing off to start the Okee Dokee Brothers. This kid-friendly band incorporates the art of make-believe into deep, imaginative narratives that are supplemented by banjo and acoustic guitar playing. Songs such as "Too Much Time in Candy Land," "Kiddo" and "Neighbors" humor their way into the hearts of children and parents alike with wordplay that incites giggling.
Parents approve of the Okee Dokee Brothers' taste in music because they provide innocent fun and wholesome sounds without mainstream suggestiveness. Those values have won them a Parent Choice Award and numerous features on parental websites such as Cool Mom Picks. The Okee Dokee Brothers' most recent album is titled Take it Outside, released in August of 2010. They are currently touring mainly in the Midwest with multiple shows in Minnesota, and shows in Missouri and Oklahoma coming this summer.
