About this Media...

  • Date Recorded: September 6, 2011
  • Artist / Band: The Reventones
  • Hosting Show: Latin Hemispheres
  • Sound: Dan Kinney

In Spanish, the word "reventón" has many meanings: "blow out," "burst" and "work your butt off." The sound of the Reventones evokes them all.

Based around the duo of guitarists Lliam Christy and Jon Oliver Knight, the Reventones roam across Latin musical landscapes, from flamenco to boleros, rumbas to Cuban son. The band's most recent CD is "Dirty It," featuring a mix of original compositions and classic numbers from the Latin songbook.

The Reventones perform regularly at the Shaved Duck in St. Louis, and will open for Fishtank Ensemble on September 8 at Off Broadway.
