Those Darlins have been praised from on high. The group's 2011 album "Screws Get Loose" garnered praise from Rolling Stone, SPIN, NPR and Dean of Rock Critics Robert Christgau. The band came by the KDHX studios to play us some songs from their upcoming release "Blur the Line" and it sounds like lightning could strike again.

The group has gone through some changes in personnel since the last album and they are now a quartet of two and two, gender-wise, instead of the foursome that leaned toward the feminine. The sound is a bit different too; perhaps it's a bit less unhinged, but not entirely so.

"Oh God" reveals some hints of the group's early forays into country sounds - for a while. And then the guitars drop in and soar and by the end we find we have been lead into a rock song.

"Optimist" sounds like the Ramones, if the Ramones let girls in the group. And if any girls would have dared join.

Both "Oh God" and "Optimist" have been released as video singles in anticipation of the new album which is set for an October release.
