Trampled by Turtles is a young string band with a surreal name and an unreal approach to bluegrass, folk and rock 'n' roll.

Formed in Duluth, Minn., a place best known as the early stomping grounds of one Robert Zimmerman, the band prizes tender, taut harmonies and artful songwriting, indebted, like Mr. Zimmerman, to blues and old time country music, but indelibly stamped with a personal vision. The band's fifth studio album, "Palomino," has caused a stir in bluegrass and Americana communities. Minneapolis' City Pages described the release as "jam-packed with flurries of screeching fiddles and skittering banjos, and ... big, sing-along choruses that seem tailor-made for live performances."
