Though she now makes her home in Bell Buckle, Tenn., Valerie Smith is a genuine Missouri bluegrass girl, with a clear, rich voice and some surprising guitar and mandolin chops. Backed by her long-time band Liberty Pike, the IBMA award winner performed live in the studios of KDHX.

Smith's band features Becky Butler (banjo and fiddle), Bobby Davis (bass), Chad Graves (dobro) and Brandon Bostic (guitar, mandolin and banjo). Smith's most recent release is "Wash Away Your Troubles." She and Liberty Pike appeared at the Silver Dollar City Bluegrass and BBQ Festival in Branson, Mo. from May 14-16, 2008.
