A new partnership between former Theodore songwriter Justin Kinkel-Schuster and Mississippian Andrew Bryant, Water Liars released their debut album "Phantom Limb" on the Misra label in February 2012. Somewhere between Giant Sand and Jim White, the album ebbs and flows through the clatter and roar of lo-fi recording and the plaintive voice and songs of Kinkel-Schuster, a young St. Louisian who is steadily establishing a mature body of American music.

For this Live at KDHX session, Water Liars cut loose on three songs from "Phantom Limb," plus a cover of Hasil Adkins' "Moon Over Madison," all highlighting the beauty and power of their spontaneous, incantatory sound.
