What started out as a casual band, jamming to bluegrass in college bars in Champaign, Ill., has become Yonder Mountain String Band, one of the leading festival acts in the country.

The foursome of Dave Johnston, Jeff Austin, Ben Kaufmann and Adam Aijala make their home outside of Boulder, Col. and have built their reputation as great live performers through relentless touring and a string of live albums that split the difference between country folk, jam band rock and progressive bluegrass, played fast, loud and joyfully. On the recent release, The Show, the band expands its sound further into rock territory, working with producer Tom Rothrock and legendary drummer Pete Thomas, best known for backing Elvis Costello.

YMSB performs 2 shows to close out 2010 at the Pageant, December 30 and 31.
