After an overloaded Friday, the rest of this weekend is pretty light on options that appeal:

Saturday, August 23

Off Broadway (3509 Lemp) hosts SMAndinista! -- a benefit for Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (FSMA).

Several diverse acts -- Picture Day, Estevan, Rocksteady Flyers, Kadu Flyer and Shark Dad -- will pay tribute to the music of the Clash while raising funds for this worthwhile cause.

Door at 8 p.m., show at 9 p.m., with a $7 cover (+3 for minors; all ages, but 17-under must be with an adult).

-----

Prairie Rehab / Melody Den / Charflies
The Engine Room at Feraro's (7700 Ivory)
9 p.m. start; $5 (21+ only)

Mellow country sounds from Prairie Rehab.

Melody Den offer rock with a little twang -- and a lot of tasty licks from two talented guitarists.

I haven't seen/heard Charfly.

Sunday, August 24

While some swingin' blues from Rick Estrin & the Nightcats (Sacramento, California) can be heard at Beale on Broadway (701 S. Broadway), doing so will probably require enduring some oppressive heat (feeling how hot it still was on the Off Broadway patio at 10 p.m. Friday night convinced me to reluctantly pass on the Nikki Hill show here).

This starts around 10:30 p.m., with a $10 cover (21+ only). Show is outside.

Dick Caveat
