Such a shame to have so many good options on a single night -- especially a weeknight:

Thursday, June 19

The Vendors of Substance -- a duo consisting of busy players Carl Pandolfi and Richard Tralles -- play a mix of covers and originals of many styles at Stone Spiral Coffee & Curios (2500 Sutton).

This runs 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is by donation (all ages).

-----

Old Rock House (1200 S. 7th) hosts the Missouri Chainsaw Grassacre.

Split Lip Rayfield (Wichita, Kansas), the Hatrick (Columbia, Missouri) and Cowgirl's Train Set (Lawrence, Kansas) will provide variations of punched-up bluegrass.

Door at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m., with a $20 cover (all ages).

-----

Psycho DeVilles / Bible Belt Sinners / Rat Rod Kings
Firebird (2706 Olive)
8 p.m. door/8:30 p.m. start; $10 advance/12 door (+2 20-under; all ages)

Hard-driving, pulse-pounding rockabilly and psychobilly from Psycho DeVilles (Atlanta).

Likewise from Bible Belt Sinners and Rat Rod Kings.

Langhorne Slim & the Law / John Henry
The Ready Room (4195 Manchester)
8 p.m. door/9 p.m. start; $13 advance/15 door (+2 20-under; all ages)

Langhorne Slim & the Law features the very charismatic singer/songwriter who blends folk, soul and rock sounds.

-----

The Heavy Anchor (5226 Gravois) hosts a show to raise funds for the medical bills/lost wages of guitarist Glenn Burleigh, who suffered a nasty leg injury.

In addition to a set from his bandmates in The Union Electric, Pretty Little Empire, The Potomac Accord and his sweetie Langen Neubacher will perform.

This starts at 9 p.m., with a $5 cover (21+ only).

Dick Caveat
