Each track offers something new and could easily be considered single-worthy. When bundled together, however, these songs make Candidate Waltz one stand-out album.
Gritty, overdriven guitars carry many of the tracks, while bouncy piano and fluid synths fill in the sonic spaces. Each instrument’s sound has been tweaked to perfection, producing those spine-tickling tones that musicians can often only dream of. While there are driving, upbeat rhythms displaced throughout the album, it is also filled with mellow grooves suitable for a slow dance.
Vocally, Candidate Waltz is splendid. Backing vocals are intricately woven between verses and choruses, creating fascinating textures. My favorite song from the batch, "Estimate x 3," exemplifies this well. The hooks will, no doubt, stick with a listener.
