"Party! Party!” Those were the last two words I heard before my glasses got pulled off, someone hit me in the ribcage, and I fell to the floor screaming in fear, as the crowd pushed toward the stage, taking me with them.

This was just the beginning of the Andrew W.K's set at the Firebird Wednesday night. Thankfully I was pulled out of the crowd, and my glasses and camera were retrieved.

The reaction to the show was split by a lot of the concertgoers -- some excitedly jumping on stage every chance they could get. But others left within 15 minutes of the start of his set, not enjoying Andrew W.K.'s lack of set-up (he is not traveling with a band during this tour), and haphazard approach to the night.

"This is not a show, this is a party!" was Andrew W.K.'s response to the night. And I'll have to agree with him on that.

Local band the Fuck Off and Dies opened the night.
