The latest in the long-running series of KDHX benefits and artist tributes, Back to Rockville: A Tribute to R.E.M. and 88.1 KDHX Benefit brought 10 bands and a few hundred music lovers out to Off Broadway on Friday to celebrate the songs of one of the most influential bands of the past 30 years.

Over four and a half hours, musicians from all corners of the St. Louis music community passionately recounted their favorite tunes from R.E.M.'s massive catalog. The songs performed spanned the band's entire career, from the very beginning -- "Radio Free Europe," their first single, performed by Via Dove -- to the very end -- "Alligator_Aviator_Autopilot_Antimatter," from the second half of their swan song "Collapse Into Now," performed by Super Maroon. The evening ended with the full cast of musicians on stage singing the event's namesake, "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville," with a full-throated crowd singing along.

We want to extend a warm thank you to everyone that came out to show their support for 88.1 KDHX and rock out with us. In particular, we want to thank Off Broadway for hosting the event, and the dozens of musicians that donated their time, talent and passion to put together an unforgettable night of music.
