Passion and joy for your work is a blessing that was on display Wednesday night at the Pageant. Both the opener, the Lone Bellow, and Brandi Carlile displayed just how much fun and passion musicians can have for entertaining the masses.

A night of folk rock turned into what felt like a first date in which two people are completely engrossed with each other. The Lone Bellow came out and jazzed those in attendance with fantastic harmonizing and strong vocals from the band's three singers.

Brandi Carlile punched through with a lot of power. Her request for Jameson on the rocks was promptly answered, after which the party really began. Her one-woman cover of Radiohead's "Creep" made the near-standard tune sound new again. Another cover of a Fleetwood Mac song broke up the set and showed more of a band just having a lot of fun playing music, even when it wasn't necessarily their music.
