With the show sold-out before the start of the night, anticipation was high for concertgoers at the Firebird on Friday night to see Pure Bathing Culture and Father John Misty.

Father John Misty (the performing name of J. Tillman, formerly of Fleet Foxes) brought a large set-up, complete with a collaged backdrop, disco balls and a stuffed toy tiger that made the Firebird reminiscent of a '70s basement -- or something out of a Vegas show.

Even as Pure Bathing Culture ended its set with the hit "Along the Ivory Coast," many hopefuls were still searching for extra tickets outside the venue. As Father John Misty took the stage, the night continued with enthusiasm, dancing and the venue continuing to fill with people.

The night was a much-needed break from the week, and it was neat to see Father John Misty take the lead on the stage, leaving me curious if he will continue under this current persona, or if he will return to releasing work under J. Tillman.
