Friday night marked the fourth Anniversary of St. Louis concert venue the Firebird. Local bands Roundheels, the Brainstems, the Breaks, and Volcanoes were part of the bill to help celebrate the occasion.

Guerrilla Street Food was also on-site for the duration of the event, providing a great food option for patrons between sets. Of the four bands on the bill, I had only seen Volcanoes previously, but had heard good things about the others. Taking the stage first, Roundheels set the bar high for the remainder of the evening, providing a great set that I hopefully will be able to see again. The Brainstems deserved an award for keeping calm throughout their set in spite of a drunken patron repeatedly throwing beer cans and whatever else he could find on to the stage.

Although some patrons decided to leave before the next two bands took the stage, the Breaks and Volcanoes provided two great and very distinct sets -- you missed out if you left early. All bands were great, though I wished each band's set was longer, and I was sorry I couldn't stay through the duration of Volcanoes' set. All in all, though, the night was a great way to mark my first show for 2013, and the Firebird's celebration was great excuse to see so many new bands.
