I must first comment on this venue: It's absolutely one of the best places to see an intimate show. The lodge offers packages with rooms, cabins, suites and dinner in a beautiful country setting. It's like being in someone's living room watching your favorite performer. The venue will be presenting concerts from Poco, Dave Mason and Mark Farner later this fall.
Guy Clark is renowned for his songwriting, Verlon Thompson for his exquisite acoustic-guitar work. Clark is considered the fifth Highwayman along with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson. He penned "Desperados Waiting for a Train" one of the Highwaymen's signature tunes. Clark and Thompson did all their classic songs, including "Homegrown Tomatoes" and "The Guitar," which is a personal favorite of mine. In between songs Clark told some fascinating stories. In his long life he's rubbed shoulders with all the greats. During the show the crowd was respectful and as silent as a church.
To sum up: Siteseeing in the afternoon, great dinner, intimate show and then a comfy bed. What could be better?
