Janiva Magness knows the blues. Playing to a large crowd last night at the Old Rock House, Magness lived up to her 2009 "B.B. King Entertainer of the Year" award, and proved that no matter what venue she plays, she does not disappoint.

Magness brought with her a fantastic backing band comprised of Zach Zunis, Gary Davenport, Jim Alfredson and St. Louis native Matt Tecu. Together they provided the crowd with enough funk and blues to get the dance floor filled, and to demand an encore before the night came to a close.

Magness has released an impressive ten albums in her career, with the latest album, "Stronger For It," showing a new interest in writing -- the song "Whistlin' in the Dark" in particular is crowd favorite. Although the latest album was just released in March, fans are already looking forward to seeing what she does next.
