The pre-Fourth of July party at St. Louis' Gramophone brought Austin stalwart Jon Dee Graham to the stage for a night of story and song, showcasing the humor and heart that won Graham the honor of 2006 Austin Musician of the Year.

Opening the night with an eclectic set by KDHX DJ and local music legend Fred Friction. Between playing the spoons, sipping beer and strumming his guitar, Friction bantered with the audience and even pulled Graham into the act as he spoon-crooned a cover of the tune "Big Bad John." Though he was already supported by bass and drum, Graham likewise found a place for Friction near the close of his set, tying together a lively and intimate night of music.
