Josh Ritter returned to St. Louis for a jam-packed show at Plush on Saturday, April 20.

Although the singer-songwriter took the stage alone, Ritter was accompanied for most of the night by the Royal City Band. Together, they worked through a lengthy set of Ritter's best known songs, including most of Ritter's new album "The Beast In Its Tracks." Ritter bantered with his audience, a grin barely leaving his face as he joked about Lewis and Clark or ruminated on marriage. Highlights from the show included such stand-out tracks as "Idaho," "Kathleen" and "The Temptation of Adam." Solo act Lera Lynn opened the show, offering a mellow set of folk-rock reminiscent of Janis Ian.
