Mardi Gras came to St Louis fans as Papa Grows Funk performed at the Broadway Oyster Bar on Sunday.

John Gros, on Hammond B3 Organ, leads this New Orleans-based jazz and funk group. They have a new release titled "Needle in the Groove" and showcased titles from this disk. June Yamagishi (guitar), Nori Naraoka (bass), Jason Mingledorf (sax) and Jeffrey "JellyBean" Alexander (drums) make up this fantastic group. Jim Stevens and another St. Louis musician (unknown to this photographer) also sat in on this night.
