Pokey LaFarge let it be known last night that American roots music is alive and well in the city of St. Louis.

Playing to a packed house at the Casa Loma Ballroom, LaFarge and his band put on a stellar performance to celebrate the release of his new full-length album on Third Man Records. With people dancing in all four corners of the room, and a sea of people surrounding the stage, LaFarge and his crew picked and grinned, sang and stomped, and had a good time playing for their hometown fans.

St. Louis trio, the Loot Rock Gang, opened the show and played a set that was filled with soul and grit. Wasting no time, the Loot Rock Gang showcased its stunning vocals backed by thick guitar tones and a steady low end.

Mariachi Los Compadres (not pictured) kicked off the evening and set the good-natured tone that lasted throughout the night.
