Reckless Kelly always comes out with guns blaring, and their performance at the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill on Tuesday was no exception.

They have one foot in country with Cody Braun's fiddle playing and the other foot solidly rockin' out to Jay Nazz's thunderous drums and David Abeyta blasting lead guitar. It's all topped off with Willy Braun's veteran vocals. A pleasant surprise was Joe Miller, formerly with Back Porch Mary, now taking over the duties at bass. At one point, Joe laid flat on his back and played his stand-up bass held high in the air with his feet.

Willy wrote, or co-wrote, every track on their new release "Good Luck & True Love." They dug back into their fifteen year history and pulled out some crowd favorites like "Love In Her Eyes," "Crazy Eddie's Last Hurrah" and "Vancouver." The new track "I Never Liked St. Valentine," co-written with Todd Snider, is a new favorite. The song is about being reminded that the singer does not have a valentine. Mixing spoken words with well-sung lyrics makes this tune stand out.

The Duck Room was at near capacity on a Tuesday night. Gabriel Kelley (not pictured) opened with a solo set on acoustic guitar and harmonica.
