It's not difficult to imagine Zach Heckendorf and his guitarist sidekick sitting on their couch writing their solos with John Mayer Trio playing in the background.

There was a lot of familiarity to his set, easy-listening music topped off with a sweet and soulful voice that could distract from the fact the kid can really play his guitar.

There was plenty of room to breathe in the pit at the Pageant, but as I made my way to the front of the stage again for Rodrigo y Gabriela that had drastically changed. The duo sat down and began to play as thick fog rolled past them and skewed the view; it was as if I was the nosy neighbor trying to look over the fence and see where this new and beautiful sound was coming from. I can't imagine doing anything as good as Rodrigo y Gabriela play their guitars, perfectly executing each note, tone and transition.

Both Rodrigo and Gabriela took the time to explain their enthusiasm to play new songs on a record they hope to record this September. For once too, the crowd was quiet. Of course there were shouts and drunken hoots, but the Pageant patrons were ready to listen and nod their heads and dance with the best.
