Jonny Fritz was in full character, as is normal for him, as he took the stage. Fiddle player Joshua Hedley exploded on stage with multiple solos that kept the crowd listening. These two performers shine a new light to country music.

The Devil Makes Three -- with its amalgam of vintage blues with a touch of ragtime -- gave a performance that drove the sold-out audience to sing along. The familiar ragtime measures and lyrics about drinking salted with self-regret always captivate me. These guys leave you no option but to move your body. The multi-dimensional nature of the band's music explains why it has generated the following that it has. The next time they blow through town, the Duck Room may not be able to contain them.
