The Magnetic Fields inhabited the Sheldon Concert Hall Wednesday evening as a part of the Sheldon Sessions series.

Exhibiting all the familiarity and ease of a group that has been performing for the better part of two decades, the band performed a flawless set. Founder and primary songwriter, Stephin Merritt was content to linger on the edge behind his harmonium and let the rest of the band take the spotlight.

Young songstress Gal Musette, who is in the middle of composing 70 love songs in honor of the Magnetic Fields' 1999 release "69 Love Songs," opened the evening.
