Thursday evening, Off Broadway filled with friends, family and new fans as two acts with ties to St. Louis took the stage.

Angel Olsen shut down all side conversations in the room as she offered up songs from her album "Half Way Home," showing that a thoughtful and restrained delivery can still command a crowd's attention. Water Liars went in the opposite direction, with guitarist Justin Kinkel-Schuster and drummer Andrew Bryant launching into a louder rock 'n' roll set and even luring out a few dancers to the venue floor.
