The city's vibrant music community has embraced the musicians' buoyant folk melodies, supporting the their early steps and cementing their positions as hometown heroes.
Damien Jurado, Sub Pop alumnus and fellow Seattle musician, shares many similarities to the Head and the Heart aside from label pedigree and coordinates. With emotionally-resonant lyrics and a shared fondness for lilting, folk-infused melodies, Jurado is the granddaddy of the Seattle neo-folk scene that gave rise to the Head and the Heart. The band's cover of "Beacon Hill," off Jurado's 2010 album "Saint Bartlett," pays homage to the songwriter's artistry, as well as his foundational role in the Seattle music scene.
