Wanna See the SOLD OUT Bon Iver Show?

Wanna See the SOLD OUT Bon Iver Show?

Even if no one can pronounce his name, he's on everyone's lips. The scruffy faced songwriter (and most unlikely contributor to a Kanye West album) jumped right to the short list of "Album of the Year" mentions with critics after the release of his new self titled album on Jagjaguwar Records. And, perhaps most importantly, he landed a Colbert Bump.

Fans snatched up tickets to his Sold Out show at the Pageant this Sunday with a rabid tenacity that, actually, one might not expect from fans of angelic harmonies and soft-spoken tracks.

But all hope is not lost. 88.1 KDHX is giving away TWO (2) PAIRS of tickets to see Bon Iver and opener Kathleen Edwards for the 9/11 show at The Pageant.

In lieu of a fan-suggested Beard Growing Contest, we're going to go a different route (hey, there just wasn't time). Bon Iver's breakthrough 2007 album, "For Emma, Forever Ago," was recorded over 3 months in a rural Wisconsin cabin. He was so inspired—and actually pretty sick with mono—that what came out of the sessions was an atmospheric classic.

So the Big Contest Question is: "If you could lock yourself in a wintery cabin for 3 months and write an album about something or someone, who or what would it be about, and why?"

4 SIMPLE RULES:

1. Spouses, girlfriends and boyfriends are excluded as subject matter for your album. I'm sure they're great people. Oh, and you know what? It can't be about your kids. I'm sure they're amazing too.

2. Leave your comment in the comment field below, and pretty please include an email you can be reached at. You MUST be reachable on Friday afternoon to arrange ticket pickup at our Magnolia Studios in St. Louis. So, it might also help if you live near St. Louis.

3. Enter as many times as you want. You're an artist, man! You can put a limitation on inspiration!

4. Other than that, go nuts. Your entry might be a sentence, it might be a paragraph. Is your album about an action figure you had as a kid? A Teacher? Is it about the person that let you change lanes while you were driving in your car, even though you don't know who they are? Does your album have a name? What genre is it? Did you use only pots and pans to make a noise metal album about Michelle Bachmann's eyes? Why would you do that? Just have fun and be inspired. Cause you're alone in a cabin in the woods for 3 months: better have a damned good muse.

THIS CONTEST ENDS AT 3 PM CENTRAL TIME, ON 9/9. Get your entries in before then, and you're all good! Good luck to everyone, and we can't wait to read what you come up with and, hopefully, send Two Winners to the show.
