About me
Moacyr Marchini, is a native of Brazil and has been a professional muscian for 30 years. Moacyr specializes in playing the cavaquinho, a Brazilian guitar, and other traditional Brazilian hand percussion instruments. He is the founder and director of the Chicago Samba School, a non-profit organization promoting Brazilian culture, and Samba Bom and Choro Guys in St. Louis. For several years, Moacyr has taught percussion classes and workshops for elementary, secondary schools, universities and community groups in the Midwest. He frequently performs in festivals, night clubs, private functions, and returns often to Brazil, where he studies with samba masters and collects Brazilian recordings and instruments.
