Loud was on display at the Firebird on Wednesday night, with openers Dad Jr. kicking the night off with some down and dirty thunder.

It is safe to say that I was among the few first-timers to bear witness to the unique sounds of Menomena last night, as the vibe in the Firebird was electric with the kind of anticipation that comes from knowing a group's music well.

Justin Paul Lewis brought some passion to the Old Rock House on Saturday night, opening for Ben Sollee. Lewis's voice flowed and set a strong, emotional tone for the evening.

None of the three troops to take the stage on Tuesday night at the Pageant were willing to be outdone.

It's always fun when everyone knows the words to the songs being sung, and such was the case Saturday night at the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill.
