Volunteer orientations are currently held twice a month, on one weekday evening and one weekend day.
Thanks for your interest in getting involved with KDHX!
KDHX is continuing to broaden its scope by consistently making new content available on our website. The Web Journalism and Communications intern will help create content for KDHX.org and the KDHX Blog.
KDHX is heavily run by volunteers. Volunteers work as programmers, producers, crew members, script writers, clerical workers, and much more. The goal of this department is to recruit, train, and retain our volunteers. The biggest projects for this department are the two annual membership drives where we need over 100 volunteers in 10 days.
The KDHX Volunteer Coordinator intern assists the Volunteer Coordinator in developing and writing a volunteer newsletter as well as assisting in coordinating volunteers for KDHX events. This internship position will assist in marketing events, positions, opportunities and parties to the KDHX volunteers.
KDHX DJs are volunteers who are given complete creative control over their own shows - the music department does not make decisions about what the DJs will play. The primary role of the music department is to maintain a library of releases, new and old, for DJs to use for their programs, to facilitate in-studio performances and interviews, generate web content, and to improve the servicing we get from record labels.
KDHX Staff and Management are dedicated to the facilitation of volunteer training and production, but our broadcast channels and radio station require consistent high-quality visual graphics, marketing, and PR materials. Marketing interns are involved in general assistance in designing and producing visual communications for KDHX Radio, TV, and .ORG
KDHX is a multi-media organization with great interest in and reliance on new technologies. IT interns will assist our IT Director in serving KDHX staff and volunteers and their information technology needs. IT Interns will also assist in maintaining internal infrastructure.
KDHX staff and management are dedicated to the facilitation of volunteer training and production, but our broadcast channels and business offices require consistent high-quality visual graphics, marketing and PR materials. KDHX is about more than just great media like radio, TV, film and the web. Every year, we produce scores of events for anyone who loves music and art -- or anyone who just loves having fun in St. Louis. The KDHX Events Department is responsible for coordinating all KDHX events. These include one-off events such as Art Attack! and Midwest Mayhem, as well as series such as Harvest Sessions.
The Production Department at KDHX Radio manages audio production facilities and resources, and trains, facilitates, and supervises volunteers to produce broadcast-quality audio for Radio and KDHX-TV Broadcast. Audio production interns assist with general radio production tasks, while assisting and supervising our volunteer producers.
The KDHX Studios host over a hundred national and regional artists and bands every year. The live performance engineer makes them sound great on air. This is a highly skilled, technical position, so experience is quite useful, but training will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to observe and assist in producing sessions to gain experience.
