Playing for a sold-out crowd at Chicago's Lincoln Hall, Shuggie Otis put on a captivating performance that reiterated why he is often consider a musical genius.

The Twangfest day parties at South By Southwest, presented by KDHX, moved locations to the legendary Broken Spoke for the 2013 festivities, and although the stages were different, the good times rolled on.

People came from all over the world came to perform and be a part of the SXSW festivities in Austin, Texas this year.

Saturday evening at Off Broadway was a party to celebrate the third birthday of music blog Speakers in Code.

The hottest ticket in town on Friday night was down at the end of Lemp Avenue at Off Broadway. A capacity crowd was out with its dancing shoes for the show featuring So Many Dynamos and Née.

On Thursday night, the Pageant hosted a bill that featured two excellent bands whose styles and sounds cover a wide range.

On Wednesday evening, the Firebird played host to two duos from the Pacific Northwest, each of which is on the well-known Sub Pop label.

Bloc Party came to the Pageant on Saturday and put on an energetic show for its St. Louis following.

The Carolina Chocolate Drops came to St. Louis and put on a stellar show that was equal parts performance and music history lesson.

On Tuesday night, Rhode Island-based duo Brown Bird came through St. Louis and shared their dark and rhythmic brand of folk music with an appreciative crowd at the Duck Room.
