A great year for music, no doubt.  Now, how does one go about culling a list of about 100 worthy albums into a final 10?  I'm still not sure but I've got it down to 70; that's something, right?

Anyway, here's where I stand now.  Am I missing anything?

There's some good stuff here, including a couple of albums that I either completely forgot about or forgot that they were released this year. I'll be adding the Teenage Fanclub and Roky Erickson albums to my short list. The Mynabirds may sneak in there as well. I just picked up the album last week but after a few spins it's settling in very nicely.

I'm guessing that I should give the Hollerado and Broken Records albums a full listen as well. I've listened to one or two tracks from each and liked what I heard, but haven't sought out the full records.

Good call on the Sharon Jones. I forgot about it and need to give that another shot. I tried the Bettye LaVette though and it just didn't do anything for me.

A good starting list, Allen. I'm still working on my big list -- not to mention Top 10 -- but I think the Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and Bettye LaVette records merit consideration.
