Pop and Country Collide on Midday Jamboree

Wednesday, 27 July 2011

This coming Saturday (July 30th) I will be very happily joining Fred Gumaer on his excellent classic country show. Midday Jamboree will sound a little different as Fred and I explore the Country influences on Pop and Rock and Roll music.

I've tried to find songs by Pop and Rock artists and bands that not only have Country influences but have retained their Pop/Rock roots. For example: You'll hear "It's Only Make Believe", the Jack Nance composition that was made famous by Conway Twitty and performed by the British Invasion band, The Hollies. Or Elvis Costello's version of the George Jones classic, "It's A Good Year For The Roses".

Also you can espect to hear The Searchers, The Continental Drifters, The Monkees, Dave Edmunds and lots more.

Hope you can tune in. And again, it's Midday Jamboree on July 30, from 1-3pm!
