Praise and criticism

Darren:

I think KDHX is one of the most important cultural icons that St. Louis has to offer and I equally enjoy your show.  KDHX should be the model for every city.

But....I must take exception to a comment you made on your show today regarding the financial support that the Canadian government gives to its artists and your statement that that is the way it should be here in the US.  I truly believe it is the goverment's role to guarantee that anyone has the ability to express themselves in any way they choose, but I disagree that it is government's role to financially support that endeavor.  If someone has something that is appealing to people, then those people should financially support it.  It is not our government's responsibilty to support everyone; there is too much of that going on.

Hey Marc, can we agree KDHX is the greatest radio station in the world? I listen to KDHX to get above the clamor on every other radio station. I have supported KDHX financially since it's inception (I am in the Radio Frequency Program) so you can say I am a devoted repeat consumer of their product. Not everything has to be about the dollar and tax policy.

Thanks for your response MCMT. Too bad you missed the entire point of my comment.

Oh yeah I forgot. There does seem to be an inordinate amount of good bands coming from our good friends to the north. Just look at Arcade Fire for starters, not to mention the New Pornographers, I could go on. That is all.

I heard you say that during your show today Darren and I thought 'do they supply the doobies?' I already am tired of goofballs that want to limit gubmint to just servicing the uber reich while cutting off funding for Big Bird. If Marc is inclined to take exception to your innocuous statement about a pretty good up and coming rock and roll band that is his prerogative. Me personally - I think KDHX is the greatest radio station in the world - and I've been around. I challenge anyone, anywhere to prove me wrong. Also with all the strife in the world is it really worth your time Marc to comment on what a DJ says? Just rock on big dog and smoke a doobie or something. I love your show Darren, don't change a thing.
