Mogwai “Drunk And Crazy”
from Earth Division - EP (Sub Pop 2011) —Like a lot of folks, I'm playing some of my favorites of the year.

Gang Of Four “I Can't Forget Your Lonely Face”
from Content (Yep Roc 2011)

The Joy Formidable “The Greatest Light Is the Greatest Shade”
from The Big Roar (Atlantic unk 2011)

Metallica “Rebel Of Babylon”
from Beyond Magnetic EP (Warner 2011) N  —A leftover song from Death Magnetic that's pretty good, lyrically a bit "soft" but the music is closer to what I want to hear from Metallica. Not a favorite (yet) but very cool nonetheless.

Fantômas “The Omen (Ave Santani) [Live]”
from The Director's Cut Live - A New Year's Revolution (Ipecac Recordings 2011) N  —This band is crazy insane good live, this would have been a good gig to see in person.

Primus “Eyes of the Squirrel”
from Green Naugahyde (LAB 344 2011) —One of the more freaky-outy tracks on this fine, fine album.

Brandon Saller and Billy Martin “Nightlife”
from Muppets - The Green Album (Disney New 2011) N  —Atreyu singer and Faith No More's professionally deceased guitarist rock out. Maybe he's doing more stuff, I'll find out and get back to you.

The Star Spangles “Which of the Two of Us Is Gonna Burn This House Down?”
from Bazooka (EMI Music 2003) —The party starts when someone yells "arson!"

Ween “It's Gonna Be A Long Night”
from Quebec (Sanctuary Records 2003)

Clutch “Spleen Merchant”
from Blast Tyrant (DRT 2004) —Don't be this guy.

Fishbone “DUI Friday”
from Crazy Glue (Cockroach Media 2011) —Any year with new Fishbone is a good year.

Johnny Socko “If I Didn't Have a Goiter”
from Oh, I Do Hope It's Roast Beef! (Triple R 1995) —Damn I miss this band.

Ivy “Fascinated”
from All Hours (Nettwerk Records 2011) —You can score this and a dozen other songs for free (legally) http://amzn.to/vR706a

The Chain Gang Of 1974 “Matter Of Time”
from Wayward Fire (Modern Art Records 2011) —Aw, man. Such a great song. Listen at http://www.thechaingangof1974.com/ and you'll be a happier person. Like totally happy in your soul.

The Friendly Fires “Hurting”
from iTunes Festival: London 2011 - EP (XL 2011) —Their album Pala is a fine record, very groovy. This live ep is very cool.

The Raveonettes “Forget That You're Young”
from Raven in the Grave (vice www.vicerecords.com 2011)

Mike Doughty “Na Na Nothing”
from Yes And Also Yes (Snackbar / Megaforce 2011) —Hands down one of my favorites this year. You can read about KDHX favs with this tag, http://kdhx.org/tag/best-of-2011

Ben Lee “Pointless Beauty”
from Deeper Into Dream (Dangerbird 2011) —This falls into the 'albums I really wanted to obsess over but didn't have time". Never too late, eh?

Trashcan Sinatras “Weightlifting”
from Best Of Trashcan Sinatras 1990-2010 Radio Sampler (Lo-Five 2011) —Ok, so this isn't technically new, but, I cheat sometimes.

David Lowery “All Her Favorite Fruit”
from Live @ KDHX, 5-24-11 (KDHX 2011) —Camper Van Beethoven tracked recorded live for my show back in May. Lowery will be here on 1/6 with CVB and Cracker at the Pageant. His album 'Palace Guards' is another of my favorites.

Ezra Furman & The Harpoons “Doomed Love Affair”
from digital single (self 2011) N  —A new track available via http://ezrafurman.bandcamp.com/. After that, pick up Mysterious Power.

Ben Folds “Steven's Last Night In Town (Demo)”
from Free Folds Five EP (Epic 2011) —Got this free EP when I pre-ordered the retrospective.

This Is Me Smiling “The Movies”
from Only Uphill (self 2010) —I just got this record, you can get it for free if you hack around a bit on google. Good pop stuff.
