Folkcorn “Jan de Mulder-Zeemans horlepiep”
from Jan De Mulder (Clipsound 1997) —go to www.folkcorn.nl for more information / it is one of the best websites for a musical group that I have seen / complete words, discography, and a generous use of musical examples
Bozhichi “Da Hodiv Komar po Lugu”
from Pisni pro Kohannya (Lavina records) —Божичі = Bozhichi is a young Ukrainian group that displays its respect for tradition by singing and playing in an older, "non-stagey" manner. Contrast this with the cuts from the group "burdon" later on.
from Gryning (Westpark Music 2005) —a tune from Skåne in southern Sweden. This polska sounds a lot like the tunes from neighboring Småand
Saucējas “Nekūko, Dzeguzite”
from Saucējas (Lauska www.lauska.lv 2007) —this amazingly powerful and dissonant polyphonic song is a rotāšana, or adornment song, sung by groups of women on hillocks in spring to mark the new season. They would be sung until pentacost.
Like everything else, times are approximate.
