from Little Blue Egg (Red House www.redhouserecords.com 2012) —A large celebration will also take place in Okemah OK Woody's birthplace July 11 - 14, the last 2 songs were from projects that put Woody's words to music after his death 10/03/1967 at the age of 55


Guy Clark “How'd You Get This Number”
from Boats to Build (Nonesuch 1992) —This set is in memory of Susanna Clark, 73, who died June 27 an artist and songwriter she married Guy in 1972 on Mickey Newberry's houseboat in Nashville. This is one of many she wrote with Guy.


Richard Dobson & State of the Heart “OLD FRIENDS”
from Hearts & Rivers (Brambus Records 1990) —This one Susanna wrote with Guy and Richard, sang here by Richard, Richard also wrote a book "The Gulf Coast Boys" a wonderful accounting of the early years with Guy, Townes, Steve Earl, Rodney Crowell and others.


Weddings Parties Anything “From The Heart”
from Riveresque / Garage Sale (WM Australia 1997) —Susanna wrote this one with Richard Leigh and it was a big hit for Kathy Mattea, a wonderful reading of the song here by this amazing Aussie band. RIP Susanna.


Rodney Dillard & the Dillard Band “The Andy Griffith Show Song”
from I Wish Life was Like Mayberry (Rural Rhythm Records 2010) —We also lost Andy Griffith 86, on July 3, Rodney Dillard, part of the show as a member of the Darling Family, did this splendid tribute to Mayberry last year, don't we all wish that life was like Mayberry. RIP Andy


Gram Parsons W/Emmylou “In My Hour Of Darkness”
from GP / Grievous Angel (Rhino/Warner Bros. 2008) —A request from a couple weeks back, from the amazing solo album that came out after Gram's death and after he discovered Emmylou singing in a Washington D.C. bar.


The Breakmen “What You'll Find”
from HEARTWOOD (The Breakmen 2010) —Wonderful Canadian bluegrass band featuring Matthew Lawson, Archie Pateman (who wrote and sang this tune), Ben Rogalsky, and Lee Watson 11 great original songs.


Rodney Crowell W/Norah Jones “If The Law Don't Want You”
from KIN: Songs By Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell Comp (Vanguard www.vanguardrecords.com 2012) —Rodney enlists award winng author Mary Karr to write 10 songs about family, he gets Joe Henry to produce, and buddies Emmylou, Kris Kritofferson, Lucinda, Vince Gill, Roseanne Cash, & Lee Ann Womack to sing along, how can you go wrong ??


Lynn Miles “One Horse Town”
from Coastline Of Our Dreams, The Songs of Ian Tamblyn (SGB 2006) —Lynn Miles is just one of 16 Canadians that pay tribute to and bring attention to the songs of singer/songwriter / adventurer Ian Tamblyn, Ian's still putting out great music today, you should check it out.


Mike McLure “Hotel Band”
from Twelve Pieces (Comprade 2002) —Cross Canadian Ragweed producer and Oklahoma native, McLure will open the Off Broadway show 7/25 for Mickey and the Motorcars featuring Mickey and Gary Braun from the very talented Braun family.


Mickey and The Motorcars “Never Been Out West”
from Raise My Glass (Smith Music Group 2011) —Mickey and Gary Braun bring their band to Off broadway 7/25, brothers Cody and Willie head up Reckless Kelly, don't be surprised if they don't show up at Off Broadway.


Turnpike Troubadours “Morgan Street”
from Goodbye Normal Street (Thirty Tigers www.thirtytigers.com 2012) —Another Oklahoma band will make their St. Louis debut Thusday August 9 as part of the 3 day Open Highway Fest, John D. Hale will open, the next 2 nights of the fest. will feature Will Hoge, William Elliot Whitmore, Ben Nichols, and The Bottle Rockets.


Boss Hall “Crossroads”
from In The Pale (Artist 2012) L —Exciting new local band featuring Tom Hall, Margaret Bunchetta, Kevin Buckley, Vince Corkery, & Bob Breidenbach. CD release party Saturday 7/21 7 - 9:30 BB'S Jazz, Blues, & Soups, Margaret sings & wrote the tune we heard here


John, Nathan, & Jonathan McEuen “For All The Good It Did”
from The McEuen Sessions (Fontana 2012) —Great recording, John with his sons Nathan & Jonathan, here they do a song written by their cousin, Jaime Hanna (son of Jeff & former singing partner of Jonathan)), expect to hear more of this in the near future.


Liz Stringer “High Open Hills”
from Warm In The Darkness (Vitamin Records 2012) —New discoveries are always exciting and Aussie singer/songwriter Liz Stringer is at the top of my list, a wonderful set of all new originals from down under. Also joins Anna Burley & Mick Thomas in Schackleton 3 a great side project.


Hardin Burns “I Lost My Faith”
from Lounge (self 2012) —One of my my favorites of 2012, check out my list on the kdhx website, guitar wiz Andrew Hardin joins veteran singer Jeannie Burns, of the Burns Sisters with Annie & Marie, a great set of co-written originals & a great take on a George Harrison tune.


Drew Nelson “Farmer's Lament”
from Dusty Road to Beulah Land (Two Hearted Music 2009) —Rich is helping me out this week so it's his turn to pick some tunes, he thought this farmers plea would fit the current conditions and in the meantime he's turned me on to the music of Drew Nelson, Thanks Rich.


Peter Himmelman “Raina”
from Flown This Acid World (Epic 1992) —Rich's other pick is by Minnesota veteran songwriter Himmelman, somebody who we certainly don't play enough, hey what can I say when you've only got 2 hours a week to play so many amazing songwriters, good choices Rich.


Fred Eaglesmith “WHITE ROSE”
from Drive-In Movie (Bluewater Music Services Corp./ Vertical Records 1998) —Classic Fred, He'll be leading the Tin Can Caravan down Route 66 in September & driving through Mt.Olive & stopping Sept.16 at Off Broadway, with Robbie Fulks, Roger Marin, Gordie Tentrees, Ginn Sisters & Joe Poss & a caravan of Fredheads.


John Fullbright “Song For A Child”
from From The Ground Up (Blue Dirt Records 2012) —I was blessed with 2 new Grandchildren & John Fullbright wrote a perfect song for them, this ones for Bo & Thea, thanks for listening , see you next week, watch for John on KDHX & in St.louis later this month, in Okemah this weekend for Woodys 100TH.
