Oil Boom “The Great American Shakedown”
from Gold Yeller (Oil Boom 2012) N —A couple of tracks from this Dallas/Ft. Worth band's 2nd album, an EP. They've been in St. Louis a couple of times so hopefully they're back soon. They remind me a bit of The Black Keys.
The Black Keys “Unknown Brother”
from Brothers CD Album (Nonesuch 2010) —The one bad thing about having a deep cut as your favorite track is that the band never seems to play it live. I'm still waiting Black Keys.
The Dirty Guv'nahs “Fairlane”
from Live @ KDHX 8-19-2012 (KDHX 2012) N —The Dirty Guv'nahs, a Knoxville, TN band, were kind enough to stop by the studios before their show at the Old Rockhouse on Monday night.
Amy Cook “Waiting 4 the World 2 End”
from Summer Skin (Roothouse Records 2012) N —From this LA raised, Austin-based musician. She has help from the likes of Robert Plant, Patti Griffin and Ben Kweller on this album.
Tift Merritt “Still Not Home”
from Traveling Alone (Yep Roc www.yeproc.com 2012) N —From Tift's brand new album featuring her band of Marc Ribot, Eric Heywood, John Convertino & Jay Brown. The album was produced by Tucker Martine, best known for having once been a public radio DJ!
The Orwells “Mallrats (La La La)”
from Remember When (Autumn Tone 2012) N —Playing the Loufest Aftershow at the Firebird this Saturday with Little Barrie and Audacity. Starts at 10:00 so you can head over directly from Forest Park.
