The Joy Formidable “The Greatest Light Is the Greatest Shade (Live At Koko)”
from Roarities EP (Atlantic unk 2011) —One of the records I'm most looking forward to next year.

Wild Nothing “This Chain Won't Break”
from Nocturne (Captured Tracks 2012)

The Do “Tightrope”
from Live Sessions At Studio Pigalle (Six Degrees 2012) —Slinky slinky Janelle Monae cover. It was a nice surprise.

Illy B “Double Game (feat Jennifer Charles, Miho Hatori, Chris Wood, Phaedra)”
from Drop The Needle: illy B Eats Volume 1 (Amulet Records 2002) —Jennifer Charles could sing a grocery list and I would drool.

Cursive “And The Bit Just Chokes Them”
from The Difference Between Houses & Homes (Lost Songs and Loose Ends, 1995-2001) (Saddle Creek 2005) —They opened for Minus The Bear a couple months ago, I had a cursory knowledge of them, and quickly became super fan.

Stephin Merritt “Plant White Roses (Buffalo Rome Version)”
from Obscurities (Merge 2011) —If you poke around KDHX.org with the 'best of 2012' section there's a nice Americana version.

The Smashing Pumpkins “Thirty-Three (Sadlands Demo)”
from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (Deluxe Edition) (Virgin 2012) N  —I love this demo. The song to, but the demo focuses on that wonderful melody.

Meiko “I'm Not Sorry”
from The Bright Side (Fantasy Records 2012) —This song was delicious candy for me for about 3 weeks early in the summer where I listened to it every day multiple times.

Indigo Girls “Gone”
from Beauty Queen Sister (Bonus Track Version) (Vanguard www.vanguardrecords.com 2012) —To my ears, this was their best complete album since 1999's Come On Now Social. Lots of good songs in total, but this album was a total package.

Gold Motel “Slow Emergency”
from Gold Motel (Good as Gold 2012)

Ezra Furman “Cruel Cruel World”
from The Year Of No Returning (Kinetic Family 2012) —Great song from the first record I bought this year.

Rough Shop “Torn Love Letters”
from Beneath the South Side Bridge (Perdition 2012) L

Mike Doughty “Take Me Home Country Roads”
from The Flip Is Another Honey (self 2012) N  —Roseanne Cash songs on this one.

kMw “Exodus”
from Top 10 kMw Songs (self 2012) L —Catchy as heck. http://kmwkatieandwilly.com/

Catholic Guilt “Bob From The Docks”
from Tower Groove (Tower Groove Records 2012) L

Sleepy Kitty “Box Elder”
from Tower Groove Records (Tower Groove Records 2012) L

Mike Watt + The Missingmen “Sweet Honey Pie”
from (split 45) w/ Chuck Dukowski Sextet (Org Music 2012) —This came out for Record Store Day back in April. Both sides of this are soooo good.

Jack White “Sixteen Saltines”
from iTunes Festival: London 2012 - EP (Third Man www.thirdmanrecords.com 2012) —Saw Jack White this summer it was flabbergasting. You should look up the set and watch it.

The Head and the Heart “What Are You Doing New Year's Eve”
from Holidays Rule (Hear Music 2012) N

Andrew Bird “Same Auld Lang Syne”
from Holidays Rule (Hear Music 2012) N
