Townes Van Zandt “Pancho & Lefty”
from Sunshine Boy, The Unheard Studio Sessions & Demos 1971 - 1972 (Omnivore 2013) N  —Welcome, Allen alongside, Robert Earl Keen reminded me Thursday that it would have been Townes' 69th birthday, a tribute to one of our greatest songwriters from newly discovered demos.


Tom Russell “Modern Art” (Hightone 2003) —It was also Tom's birthday last week, 3/5 thought it would be a great time to play this autobiographical song from Tom's great cd from a decade ago, "When I was born Harry Truman was the president."


Stompin' Tom Connors “Roving All Over the Land”
from A Proud Canadian (CAPITOL 1990) —A Canadian icon, Stompin' Tom, the hitchhiking troubadour, died on Wednesday, March 6 at the age of 77. He sold over 4 million records with strong Canadian themes, his standard "The Hockey Song" is played in arenas all over Canada.


Bob Dylan “Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again”

Eric Brace & Peter Cooper “Yesterdays and Used to Be's”
from You Don't Have to Like Them Both (Red Beet Records 2008) —@ the Focal Point on Friday, May 3. I missed them on there last trip to town, but I plan to be there this time around, superb songwriting, great harmonies, humor, and wonderful chemistry make for a very entertaining evening.

from Cheater's Game (Premium/Thirty Tigers 2013) N  —@ Off Broadway on Friday, April 26. The first couple of Austin Americana return to St. Louis in support of their amazing new cd, they cover Dave Alvin on this cut.

from Bottom of the World (self-released 2012) N  —We had to wait 13 years for more amazing stories from Terry and it was worth the wait. A tune about John Wayne.


Dean Martin & Ricky Nelson “My Rifle, My Pony And Me”
from Music and Songs From Classic Westerns (Jasmine Records 2012) —From Rio Bravo w/an introduction from John Wayne ...this song just seemed to fit following Terry's ode to John Wayne.


Jez Lowe “Greek Lightning”
from Heads Up (Tantobie 2012) N  —An anthology cd from this wonderful English singer/songwriter, a great place to start if you don't know Jez, duet vocals on this tune by Kate Bramley.


Mary Gauthier “Last of the Hobo Kings (Live)”
