5:00am

John Long “Healin' Touch”
from Lost & Found (Delta Groove 2008) —John was born in St. Louis, eventually moving to Chicago and studying under the greats, especially influenced by Homesick James Williamson.

5:05am

Ron Edwards “St. Louis Blues”
from na (KDHX 2014) L —broadcast live during the recent 2013 Fall Membership Drive on Ron's show "Nothin' But The Blues". Just Ron and his guitar...no gimmicks....no autotune...just blues!

5:10am

John Long “Hokum Town”
from Lost & Found (Delta Groove 2008) —John Long is playing BBs Jazz Blues and Soups MONDAY Oct 28th at 7:00 pm

5:18am

Aretha Franklin “Heavenly Father”
from Rare and Unreleased Recordings From the Golden Reign of The Queen of Soul (Rhino 2007) —Since Aretha came up out of the church, I thought it would be nice to give you a glimpse of that.

5:24am

Brother Joe May “When The Lord Gets Ready (You've Got To Move)”
from The Best Of Brother Joe May (Nashboro 1995) —Thunderbolt of the Middle West, got his start as a student of the legendary Willie Mae Ford Smith in St. Louis

5:26am

Annie Mack “Call On Jesus”
from Baptized in the Blues (Annie Mack Music 2013) N  —tremendous artist and band from Rochester, MN

5:31am

The Bottoms Up Blues Gang “My Man”
from 2nd Set (Artist 2004) L —this tune features guests Adam Andrews, Brian Curran and Mike Graham

5:35am

The Jeremiah Johnson Band with The Sliders “Brown Eyed Senorita”
from 9th & Russell (self released 2011) L —a side of Jeremiah's music that you don't often hear, but one I would like to hear more of. Maybe a cut like this to close each album? What do you think?

5:39am

Fred Kaplan “Slow Freight”
from Signifyin' (Blue Collar Music 1997)

5:46am

Otis Redding “I Need Your Lovin'”
from Pain In My Heart (Atco/Warner Music Group 1993) —originally released on LP in 1965, and it sounds as good today as it did then. The fact that Booker T & the MG's and the Mar-Keys horns are on-board doesn't hurt!

5:48am

Eddie Floyd “On A Saturday Night”
from Chronicle: Greatest Hits (stax 1990)

5:51am

Baby Huey & The Babysitters “Mighty Mighty Children”
from The Baby Huey Story (Sequel Records 1999) —originally recorded in 1969, Baby Huey was being groomed by Curtis Mayfield. Was....as Huey passed away at 27 years old at the same time as Hendrix and Joplin.

5:53am

McLemore Avenue “Ham Slice”
from 926 East (self-released 2003) —heavily influenced by Booker T and the MG's, and that's ok by me.

6:01am

Gary Moore “The Supernatural”
from Blues for Greeny (Virgin 1995) —Gary's Peter Green influences are showing...a very nice tribute to Green, and a fine album from Moore - my favorite of his, actually.

6:04am

Rory Gallagher “Race the Breeze”
from BBC Sessions (Buddha 1999) —from a studio session recorded by and for the BBC, 1973.

6:10am

Gary Moore “Long Grey Mare”
from Blues for Greeny (Virgin 1995)

6:21am

The Flying Burrito Brothers “Older Guys”
from Sacred Hearts And Fallen Angels The Gram Parsons Anthology (Rhino 2001) R  —here's a couple Gram Parson cuts for Jimmy I. See Jim, I didn't forget about your request!

6:27am

The Yayhoos “Fittin' to Do”
from Put the Hammer Down (Lakeside Lounge Records 2006) —Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Rock AND Roll.

6:33am

Smokin' Joe Kubek & Bnois King “That Look On Your Face”
from Road Dog's Life (DELTA GROOVE PRODUCTIONS 2013) N  —new music from Smokin' Joe and Bnois, and as solid as ever. These guys just don't get the credit they deserve...and that's a shame.

6:37am

Chicago Blues Angels “Another Day, Another Dollar”
from Lit Up (Artist 2006) —featuring the vocals of Herman Hines on this one, the band also consists of Bradley Ber (basses) and Mondo Cortez (guitars and vocals)

6:41am

Ivan Appelrouth “The Uptown Downtown Groove”
from Blue and Instrumental! (EllerSoul Records 2012) —this is nice...I'm diggin' it. It is an East Side groove today.

6:46am

Sam & Dave “You Got Me Hummin'”
from The Best of Sam & Dave (Atlantic 1987)

6:48am

Bobby Purify “You Make Me Dig”
from Better to Have It (Proper Records 2005)

6:52am
